By far, the best Esper skills to learn at the beginning of Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster are these ones.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is back and finally on consoles, and there’s a big reason why fans are so excited to check it out. All six of the games in this set are well-known RPGs, but Final Fantasy 6 is by far the best. It was a famous SNES RPG in 1994, and it’s still a great game today.
It was similar to Final Fantasy 7’s Materia system in that characters could wear Espers, which were their version of Summons, to learn spells. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster lets players play this classic game again or play it for the first time on a new platform. So, to mark the occasion, let’s go over some of the first twelve Esper skills that are worth keeping an eye on.
Kirin
Kirin is not a typical Summon or Esper that you see in newer Final Fantasy games. In Final Fantasy 6, if you summon it, it will cast the spell Regen on everyone, which will slowly heal the party. This is a great secret weapon to have, especially when fighting bosses.
Kirin is the best way for characters to learn healing magic quickly. Kirin knows how to cast magic with the names Cure, Cura, Regen, Poisona, and Libra. Cura is the best healing spell you can try to get.
Ramuh
In the story, Ramuh is a classic Summon/Esper. He is generally shown as an old man who looks like Gandalf and has long, silver hair and a big staff. In Final Fantasy 6, the same is true, and when Ramuh is called, he will use lightning magic on all enemies.
In the same way, players can learn magic based on lightning from him. In the game, Ramuh has been given three spells: Thunder, Thundara, and Poison. Of these, Thundara is by far the best.
Ifrit
Ifrit is another Summon/Esper that gets a lot of attention in the series. He is, in fact, one of the most important Summons in Final Fantasy 16. He can use fire-based magic, which he will use on all enemies when he is called into fight.
Ifrit can teach players the spells Fire, Fira, and Drain, but Firs is his best spell in the game. It’s important to note that Siren can also learn the Fire magic, but in terms of power and good spells, she is one of the weaker Espers in Final Fantasy 6.
Shiva
Once players reach the Empire’s study center, they can get Shiva and Ifrit. When you beat a boss, the two Espers will give you their power. The research center is also where the game’s version of Cid can be found.
Shiva is a Summon/Esper who uses ice and usually looks the same, for those who are new to the series. When called into battle, she will attack foes with a blast of icy cold air. When players equip her, they can learn the spells Blizzard, Blizzara, Rasp, Osmose, and Cure. Blizzara is the spell to beat, though.
Unicorn
Unicorn is another Summon/Esper that doesn’t show up all that often in the show. It’s a real unicorn, but it looks more like a traditional unicorn than the darker one in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. If the party has a state problem like Darkness or Poison, calling in a Unicorn will fix most of them.
This magical creature can teach players the powers Cura, Esuna, Dispel, Protect, and Shell. Kirin knows Cura and shows up before Unicorn, so Esuna, which also heals status effects, is its best spell.
Maduin
Maduin is a very strong Summoner and Esper in the game. He is an Esper who fell in love with a human and had a child with her. This is what happened in Final Fantasy 6. After the boss fight with Ifrit and Shiva, players will also meet Maduin in the Empire’s study center.
Maduin’s attack can send out a wave of energy that can hit all of his enemies. He knows Fira, Thundara, and Blizzara, which are the three best elemental attacks at this point in the game. If a new party member wants to learn these skills faster, they should equip Maduin instead of Ramuh, Shiva, or Ifrit.
Carbuncle
Carbuncle will use the spell Reflect on the group, which can be useful for players who know how to use it. Reflect will send magic back at the person who cast them. When spells hit Reflect and bounce back, they get stronger, which players can use to their benefit.
For example, let’s say that players decide to cast Reflect on Sabin. If Celes uses Fira on Sabin, the spell will hit the enemies instead and do more damage than if Celes used Fira properly. Carbuncle can teach people how to use Reflect. It can also use Haste, Shell, Protect, and Teleport.
Bismarck
Bismarck is a big whale that can attack enemies by shooting water bubbles at them. Water-based damage is rare in Final Fantasy 6, so Bismarck is a good Summon/Esper to use against enemies who are weak to water-based weapons.
Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder are strange skills that players can learn from the Esper, but at this point in Geometry Dash Subzero game, they are useless. Instead, Bismarck’s best spell is Raise, which can bring back to life party members who have died in fight. Using Phoenix Downs can be expensive, but Learning Raise will save you money on that.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster came out again for platforms on April 19, 2023. It can be played on both the PS4 and the Switch.
